Eighth network meeting of national technical focal points on violence and injury prevention
11–12 November 2015, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova
The eighth network meeting, co-hosted by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Moldova, considered implementation of "Investing in children: the European Child Maltreatment Prevention Action Plan 2015–2020" and reviewed progress in implementing the WHO Regional Committee resolution on the prevention of injuries. The specific objectives of the meeting were to:
- discuss how best to implement the European Child Maltreatment Prevention Action Plan and to achieve the targets and indicators;
- receive results from the European Facts and Global Status Report on Road Safety 2015, and deliberate on joint actions for the Decade of Road Safety 2011–2020;
- seek opportunities for collaboration in advocacy; and
- maximize the exchange of country experiences on preventing injury and violence.
A 1-day workshop on injury surveillance was organized by WHO/Europe on 12–13 November 2015 in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and with the support of the Norwegian Directorate of Health. Participants were experts in injury prevention and surveillance from countries in south-eastern Europe, who received up-to-date information on injury surveillance and discuss how to use it for prevention.
