Workshop on influenza surveillance data analysis and generation of national bulletins
25-26 November 2016, Tbilisi, Georgia
As part of the PIP Partnership Contribution Implementation Plan, the WHO Regional Office for Europe is collaborating with the WHO country offices and national counterparts to provide technical assistance in strengthening systems for influenza surveillance, data management and data analysis for five Member States in the Region: Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
As part of this, the workshop in November in Tbilisi, Georgia, aims to strengthen the capacities of these countries in the analysis and interpretation of influenza surveillance data, and in the development of weekly influenza bulletins.
The main objectives of the workshop are to:
- Provide participants with practical experience in the generation and interpretation of outputs (including data visualization by means of graphs, charts and maps) from epidemiological and virological influenza surveillance data;
- Improve participants’ capacities to interpret surveillance data and outputs and to develop key messages to be communicated to decision makers and to the public, thus better supporting influenza prevention and control programmes.
The target audience for the workshop is national influenza focal points for epidemiological surveillance and national staff responsible for the management and analysis of data used in influenza bulletins.
