5th mentoring visit to National Influenza Centre in St Petersburg under the Better Labs for Better Health initiative

Following the launch of the mentoring programme with the first visit in November 2015, and 3 subsequent mentoring visits in 2016, a fifth visit will be made to the Research Institute of Influenza of the Ministry of Health’s National Influenza Centre in St Petersburg to review progress and further develop the Quality Management System (QMS) Action Plan.
The main focus of the fourth visit was on assisting staff to make progress on agreed actions. This included the review of previously prepared documents and the drafting of new documents as a workshop activity in parallel with a review of the QMS Action Plan.
The aim of the fifth visit is to follow up on implementation of the QMS Action Plan and to lead workshops to assist staff in completing some of the agreed actions. Areas that will be covered include:
- the development of an internal audit programme, including practical experience in auditing;
- a review of the methods in standard operating procedures in light of the requirements of ISO 15189; and
- a review of the next-generation sequencing process, including standard operating procedures, risk assessment, validation data, and how validation should be documented.
This visit is undertaken as part of the Better Labs for Better Health initiative and is supported by funds received through the Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Framework Partnership Contribution.
