Tenth meeting on the WHO European Childhood Obesity Surveillance Initiative (COSI)
20–21 February 2017, Sliema, Malta
To develop a clear understanding of the progress of overweight and obesity in primary school children aged 6–9 years, WHO set up the European Childhood Obesity Surveillance Initiative (COSI). The fourth round of data collection is now in its final stages, and will allow for comparisons among the 36 participating countries in the WHO European Region. Surveillance data, which indicate trends and provide insight into the impact of actions taken, are essential to policy development in the Region.
The upcoming COSI meeting will take place on 20–21 February in Sliema, Malta. Participants will exchange experience, discuss national results and review methods and procedures. The main objectives of the meeting are to:
- present and discuss the preliminary results of countries that have completed data collection;
- discuss WHO support to countries for analysis and reporting; and
- participate in several workshops focused on scientific publications.
