Subregional workshop on the role of advocacy in the implementation of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control

18–19 May 2017, Dubrovnik, Croatia

WHO/Europe, along with the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE), is organizing a subregional workshop entitled “The role of advocacy in the implementation of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control”. It will take place in Dubrovnik, Croatia, on 18–19 May 2017.

WHO is committed to helping countries in the south-eastern part of the WHO European Region to strengthen their work on tobacco control. This includes assisting health professionals in developing strategies to mobilize political and public support for measures to reduce tobacco use and control the availability of tobacco products.

This subregional workshop aims to deepen understanding of the role that advocacy can play in efforts to implement the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, and to help participants develop an advocacy plan for priority strategies such as smoke-free public policy, plain packaging, mass media campaigns and taxation increases.
