WHO European Meeting of National NCD Directors and Programme Managers

UN House, Moscow

United Nations Information Centre in Moscow.

8–9 June 2017, Moscow, Russian Federation

In agreement with the Government of the Russian Federation, WHO/Europe will host the European Meeting of National NCD Directors and Programme Managers on 8–9 June 2017 in Moscow, Russian Federation. The Meeting will gather directors and managers from the 53 Member States of the WHO European Region as well as representatives of relevant international organizations.

The aim of the Meeting is to examine the progress and status of the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in the Region through the launch of the European status report on NCDs. Success stories and visionary scenarios will be presented and discussed in preparation for the 3rd United Nations High-level Meeting on NCDs, scheduled to take place in 2018.

The outcome of the Meeting will form the regional contribution to a WHO global roadmap to achieving NCD targets in 2018–2030. This roadmap will be discussed at the WHO Global Conference on NCDs in October 2017 in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Based on the findings of the European status report, Member States will be invited to examine the delivery of commitments made at the United Nations high-level meetings in 2011 and 2014. These commitments relate to setting targets, developing multisectoral policies and plans, reducing NCD risk factors and strengthening health systems to address NCDs through people-centred care.
