Workshop on influenza surveillance data analysis and generation of national bulletins

27–30 June 2017, St Petersburg, Russian Federation

As part of the Pandemic Influenza Preparedness (PIP) Partnership Contribution Implementation Plan, WHO/Europe is collaborating with the WHO country offices and national counterparts in the 5 PIP priority countries – Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – to provide technical assistance in strengthening systems for influenza surveillance, data management and data analysis in the WHO European Region.

Following on from the 2016 workshop, this workshop aims to further develop these 5 countries’ capacities to interpret influenza surveillance data and develop weekly influenza bulletins.

The main objectives of the meeting are to strengthen participants’ capacity to:

  • use and interpret epidemic thresholds;
  • identify and resolve data quality problems that may impact on the interpretation of surveillance outputs;
  • interpret quantitative outputs, select outputs for inclusion in influenza bulletins, and develop key messages for the bulletins;
  • develop plans for the use and dissemination of national influenza bulletins.
