29–31 August 2017, Copenhagen, Denmark

The WHO Polio Laboratory Network of the European Region plays a critical role in the investigation of suspected cases and detection of polioviruses within the borders of the Region and beyond. The Network encompasses 47 laboratories in 37 countries and is the largest component of the WHO global network.

On 29–31 August, the directors of all polio network laboratories in the Region will gather at the WHO Regional Office for Europe to share knowledge and experience related to poliovirus detection, biorisk management, capacity building, quality assurance and alignment of network activities with the poliovirus containment process.  The meeting will also be attended by various technical partners, including the European Centre for Diseases Control and Prevention, the United States Centers for Disease Prevention and Control and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
