Multisectoral workshop for NIS countries on the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products

The Secretariat of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) and WHO/Europe have organized a multisectoral workshop for the newly independent states (NIS) in Tbilisi, Georgia on 10–12 October 2017. The objectives of the meeting are to raise awareness about the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products among different government sectors involved in its ratification or implementation.
Participants will discuss specific technical requirements of the Protocol, including the tracking and tracing systems to be established, as well as existing good practices in implementing the Protocol measures. This workshop is extended not only to the ministries of health, but also to the
As of today, 29 countries globally have ratified the Protocol, while its entry into force will require ratification by 40 nations.
