Training in laboratory quality management and the WHO Laboratory Quality Stepwise Implementation tool for national influenza centres

The High Threat Pathogens Programme at WHO/Europe is supporting the participation of 15 laboratory quality specialists and managers from national influenza centres in a training course on laboratory quality management and the WHO Laboratory Quality Stepwise Implementation (LQSI) tool.
The course is organized by the Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It aims to provide participants with the theoretical background and practical expertise to efficiently implement a quality management system that complies with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 15189 standard for medical laboratories.
The main objectives of the course are to:
- create a basic understanding of laboratory quality management principles in diagnostic and public health laboratories;
- provide detailed insight into ISO 15189 quality management system elements and utilizing the LQSI tool for implementation of the system;
- create an understanding of how an ISO 15189-based quality management system is integrated into routine laboratory work.
