WHO in Moscow hosts a round table event on healthy pregnancy and the prevention of iodine deficiency disorders in mothers and children

The WHO Country Office in the Russian Federation and the WHO European Office for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCD Office) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation organize a round table event on the promotion of healthy behaviours during pregnancy and the prevention of iodine deficiency disorders in mothers and children in Europe and in the Russian Federation.

The event will facilitate the scientific and public discussion and the exchange of good practices between Russian and international experts on the major aspects of healthy pregnancy. The round table will include a discussion about the critical role of healthy nutrition during pregnancy, including the sufficient consumption of micronutrients, such as iodine, and how nutrition may help to ensure healthy fetal development and health later in life.
