Celebration of policy, research, education and practice in primary health care: scientific pre-conference to the Global Conference on Primary Health Care
23–24 October 2018, Almaty, Kazakhstan
To be held at the Kazakh National Medical University during the 2 days prior to the Global Conference on Primary Health Care, this event will explore the links between policy, research, education and practice. It will focus on pertinent issues such as the prestige and competencies of the primary health care workforce, evidence-based decision-making and innovations in primary health care.
The event is expected to bring together a diverse range of international speakers representing policy-makers, the scientific community, civil society and primary health-care professionals actively leading primary health-care transformations in their communities.
The pre-conference’s agenda will focus on the following 4 areas:
- policy, to highlight key policy considerations on current primary health-care policies, future strategic directions and their implications on research, education and practice;
- research, to share innovative research approaches and discuss the dynamics between research and policy towards evidence-informed excellence in primary health-care research;
- education, to explore progress in developing and enhancing both initial education and continuing development of primary health-care professionals; and
- practice, to exchange insights into service-delivery transformation using first-hand accounts of translating policies into practice.
