Training in maintenance of biosafety cabinets

30 October–9 November 2018, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

In order to build national and regional capacity in tuberculosis laboratory biosafety cabinet (BSC) maintenance, the WHO Regional Office for Europe is organizing subregional training of technicians and engineers in the eastern part of the Region. Within the framework of the two previous subregional trainings participants from six countries have been trained; in 2016 participants from Armenia, Belarus and the Republic of Moldova, and in 2017 participants from Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine. In 2018, the first training in central Asia will take place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on 30 October–9 November.

Participants from three central Asian countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan – will take part in the training.
Participants will be trained in the theoretical aspects of tuberculosis laboratory BSC maintenance following international rules, standards and recommendations, followed by practical hands-on training during which they will be trained by a specialized and certified engineer.
