Monitoring of national policies related to alcohol consumption and harm reduction (MOPAC) project: Third and final meeting

On 19 November 2018, WHO/Europe will hold its last meeting of the European Union (EU)-funded project “Monitoring of national policies related to alcohol consumption and harm reduction (MOPAC)”. The meeting is in part cohosted by the Alcohol Policy Network. The aim is to underline best practices and encourage new opportunities for action to make progress in reducing alcohol-related harm.

WHO will:

  • present its new report on alcohol-related mortality and policy responses in all EU Member States, plus Norway and Switzerland;
  • highlight alcohol and cancer links;
  • showcase best practices in primary care settings;
  • discuss the results of the evaluation of the EU Action Plan on Youth Drinking and on Heavy Episodic Drinking (Binge Drinking) 2014–2016 of the Committee on National Alcohol Policy and Action.

The meeting, to be held at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, Scotland, will attract representatives from 25 WHO Member States, as well as temporary advisers to WHO and other organizations working with alcohol harm prevention.
