Orange the World: 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence

25 November–10 December 2019

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November 2019 will mark the beginning of the annual campaign “16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence”, which will conclude on Human Rights Day on 10 December. Under this year’s theme, “Orange the World: Generation Equality Stands against Rape” the campaign focuses on the issue of rape as a specific form of harm committed against women and girls in times of peace or war.

To kick off of the campaign, WHO in partnership with International Media Support, UN Women, the United Nations Population Fund and the Australian embassy will host an event about the media’s coverage of rape.

“Media’s representation of rape – part of the problem and solution” will take place on 25 November 2019, at 15:30–17:00 (CET), UN City, Copenhagen, Denmark.
