WHO infectious substances shipping training for national influenza centres

A 2.5-day WHO Infectious Substances Shipping Training (ISST) course will bring together 20 laboratory specialists from Albania, Belarus, Cyprus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, Serbia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. These specialists are directly involved in shipping infectious substances and primarily come from national influenza centres (NICs).
The objective of the course is to strengthen the influenza virus sharing capacities of NICs. The course is supported by funds received through the Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Framework Partnership Contribution. The working languages of the course will be English and Russian, and simultaneous interpretation will be provided.
The WHO ISST course trains and certifies shippers of infectious substances to ensure compliance with applicable international transport regulations. Upon completion of the course, trainees who pass the test will receive a certificate that is valid for 24 months and recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization and the International Air Transport Association.
