WHO/Europe has a biennial collaborative agreement with Kyrgyzstan for 2010–2011. One of its priorities is strengthening the efficiency, quality and relevance of individual health services in the context of priority programmes and emphasizing the leading role of primary health care. WHO/Europe therefore supports Kyrgyzstan in:
- making recommendations on updating policies and practices for tuberculosis (TB) and multidrug-resistant (MDR) TB prevention and control, including the Practical Approach to Lung Health (PAL) in primary health care and community involvement;
- developing mechanisms to ensure the uninterrupted supply of anti-TB and other priority medicines; and
- strengthening the capacity of national institutions and experts for surveillance, prevention, control and operational research of communicable diseases.
