  • The challenge of obesity in the WHO European Region and the strategies for response
    This book uses evidence to spell out ideas and information that will enable stakeholders across the region, particularly policy-makers, to work to stop and then reverse the obesity epidemic in Europe. (2007)
  • WHO European Action Plan for Food and Nutrition Policy 2007-2012
    The Action Plan was developed through a series of consultations initiated at the Ministerial Conference on counteracting obesity in 2006. The Plan was endorsed by Member States in 2007 and encompasses six key action areas with goals and targets for the various health challenges. WHO/Europe supports individual Member States and coordinates international work to implement the Action Plan. (2008)
  • Food and health in Europe: a new basis for action
    Aimed at policy-makers, this booklet summarizes a large forthcoming publication that discusses the components of food and nutrition policies and the evidence supporting them. It describes food- and nutrition-related ill health and its costs, shows the need for action and describes the steps for policy-makers to take. (2002)
  • European Charter on Counteracting Obesity
    To address the growing challenge posed by the epidemic of obesity to health, economies and development, the Ministers and delegates attending the WHO European Ministerial Conference on Counteracting Obesity (Istanbul, Turkey, 15–17 November 2006) adopted the European Charter on Counteracting Obesity.
