European Immunization Week 2013

All 53 Member States in the WHO European Region took part in European Immunization Week (EIW) 2013, on 22–27 April, through national and local initiatives to raise awareness and increase vaccination uptake.
At the regional level, WHO/Europe launched new resource materials to assist health workers and other stakeholders in their work to fulfil EIW’s slogan: “Prevent. Protect. Immunize.”. Prominent immunization experts and other interesting bloggers contributed their insights on the EIW campaign web site.
Later in the year, WHO/Europe plans to hold a workshop for European Immunization Week focal points from all countries in the Region, the first such gathering since 2008. It will enable the participants to share best practices and lessons learnt since the initiative began in 2005, highlight their countries’ activities and achievements, and give feedback on WHO/Europe’s work in coordinating the initiative and supporting Member States.
