Vaccines and immunization

Vaccine-preventable diseases

About 20 vaccines are in use, with an additional 20 new or improved vaccines expected to be available by 2015.

Continuing, intensive efforts are under way to improve health further by developing effective vaccines for diseases such as AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, dengue and enteric diseases, and by adapting new technologies to improve formulation and delivery.
