Strengthening the health system

  • Strengthened national human resources strategy for health to ensure proper human resources planning

Scaling up surveillance, prevention and management of major noncommunicable diseases

  • Integrated health system approaches developed to prevent and manage noncommunicable diseases with particular emphasis on oncological diseases
  • Major risk factors addressed with focus on alcohol abuse and tobacco
  • Policy developed to address violence and injury prevention
  • Strengthened health promotion among people living in the regions affected by the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power station

Fostering environmental health safety

  • Strengthened health system capacity to better assess and address environmental determinants of health

Strengthening country capacity in surveillance and control of communicable diseases, and management of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis

  • Strengthened national surveillance system for communicable diseases with focus on HIV infection and parenteral hepatitis
  • National HIV drug-resistance prevention and assessment strategy developed
