The biennial collaborative agreement for 2010–2011 between WHO/Europe and CROATIA identifies not only priorities for action but also the results to be delivered.

Addressing lifestyles and risk factors, including scaling up health promotion and prevention of noncommunicable diseases

  • Coordination and partnership built to support and strengthen food safety and healthy nutrition promotion activities
  • Improved capacity of health and social systems to prevent and manage chronic noncommunicable conditions, mental, behavioural and substance-use disorders
  • Alliances formed and promotion of physical activity strengthened through intersectoral actions

Progress towards effective prevention and control of communicable diseases in Croatia

  • Improved effectiveness of prevention and control of vaccine-preventable and epidemic-prone diseases, including the implementation of International Health Regulations
  • Progress achieved towards prevention of HIV/AIDS and hepatitis C through capacity building in surveillance, treatment and care

Enhancing stewardship capacity and role of national authorities in health system policy planning, development, management and implementation

  • Increased access to medicines through strengthened implementation of the national medicines policy, and recommendations developed on the efficient management of the provision of medicines
  • Improved governance of hospitals and performance management and stronger quality improvement activities
  • Increased country capacity for policy analysis, planning and response in health workforce management
  • Occupational health strengthened by promoting and communicating evidence for action and practice

Strengthening emergency response and preparedness capacity

  • Stronger capacity of Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and health partners for effective management of health aspects of crises including policies on disaster preparedness and response
  • Stronger health system response to climate change and weather related disasters
