Priorities
The biennial collaborative agreement for 2010–2011 between WHO/Europe and Lithuania identifies not only the priorities for action but also the results to be delivered.
Health system strengthening
- Health policy and public health delivery system strengthened to address socially determined health inequities
- Implementation of the national health policy monitored, in relating to intersectoral activity and social determinants of healt
Scaling up prevention of major noncommunicable diseases
- Data collected and analysed on noncommunicable disease risk factors and on indicators of health behaviour, for strategic use of relevant health, social and health system data
- Strengthened capacities to address mental health issues at municipal level
- Intersectoral policy on alcohol control developed and capacities strengthened to address impact of alcohol
- Monitored and assessed national policy for violence prevention
Fostering environmental safety
- Strengthened ability of the health system to influence the policy of other sectors in developing an environment and health information system
- Evidence-based health impact assessment on environmental risk factors
Strengthening surveillance and control of communicable diseases, management of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis
- Strengthened capacity to implement the International Health Regulations and cope with major epidemic and pandemic-prone diseases
- Strengthened national efforts to deliver expanded prevention, treatment and care interventions for HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis
