Priorities

The biennial collaborative agreement for 2010–2011 between WHO/Europe and Poland identifies not only the priorities for action but also the results to be delivered.

1. Strengthening the health system

  • Strengthened performance of the health financing system in addressing sustainability challenges and inefficiencies in public-private mix of service delivery
  • Improved national capacity in cost-effective prescribing and use of medicines
  • Strengthened capacity of the Ministry of Health in effective management of the health aspects of crises and effective management of mass gatherings
  • Strengthened stewardship capacity of the Ministry of Health in policy analysis and implementation, with a particular emphasis on social determinants of health and reduction of inequity
  • Implementation of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF)

2. Surveillance, prevention and management of major noncommunicable diseases and injuries, with emphasis on healthy lifestyles

  • Strengthened capacity of the Ministry of Health in the management and monitoring of noncommunicable policies
  • Strengthened capacity of the Ministry of Health in the policy area of workplace health promotion
  • Strengthened national capacity in tobacco control

3. Addressing prevention of environmental health risks

  • Monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the National Children’s Environment and Health Action Plan
