The biennial collaborative agreement for 2008–2009 between WHO/Europe and Ukraine identifies not only the priorities for action but also the results to be delivered.
1. Strengthening health systems
- Stronger mechanisms for health financing and resource generation
- Improved performance and quality of care of the health care delivery services
- Stronger national health systems capacity to effectively manage health crises
2. Noncommunicable diseases and promotion of healthy lifestyles
- Effective national coordination mechanism and structure for tobacco control
- Improved national strategy to address noncommunicable diseases prevention, including healthy lifestyles
3. Communicable diseases
- Stronger immunization systems through sustaining polio-free status, eliminating measles and rubella and ensuring equitable access to vaccines of assured quality
- Stronger national tuberculosis (TB) and HIV/AIDS response
4. Mother and child health, including reproductive health
- Stronger services for effective interventions to improve mother, newborn, child and adolescent health
