WHO/Europe is committed to strengthening its collaboration with existing partners, approaching new ones and making sure that agreements are implemented effectively. WHO/Europe will continue to emphasize achieving tangible benefits to Member States from regional and country-level partnerships.

Building, consolidating and strengthening WHO/Europe’s partnerships are vital to the WHO Regional Director for Europe’s vision of achieving better health for Europe, formulating a coherent European health policy and attaining the Millennium Development Goals.

WHO/Europe is mandated to support governments and health authorities in the 53 Member States in the European Region. In pursuing its primary goal of improving the health and well-being of nearly 900 million people in a socially and economically diverse region, WHO/Europe, under the leadership of the Regional Director, has developed strategic directions for partnerships in health. These include arrangements with strategic partners such as the European Commission and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
