Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic
Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases. A novel coronavirus (nCoV) was identified on 7 January 2020 and was temporarily named “2019-nCoV”. It was subsequently named the “COVID-19 virus”.

COVAX helps make equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines a reality in the WHO European Region
The COVAX Facility has delivered over 1 million doses of Pfizer–BioNTech and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines to 14 participating economies in the Region so far.
